The project involved a complex restoration and structural consolidation intervention, particularly in a space originally used as a chapel, where a heavy marble altar had been placed on a vault not designed to bear its load.
To resolve the issue, a mineral-matrix reinforcement system (fiber-reinforcement) was applied to the masonry, and a central steel column was inserted, integrated into the masonry to maintain aesthetic continuity. The intervention was completed with the construction of a new foundation to ensure the correct transfer of loads.
The space, once used as a mortuary chamber, was thus restored and reintegrated into the overall redevelopment project for the villa.
