In the heart of an architecturally prestigious area of Rapallo, the project involved the transformation of two villas into multi-family residences. For Villa Lia in particular, an innovative structural solution was adopted to minimize footprints while preserving the building's aesthetic value.
The intervention involved the use of an insulated, ventilated CED raft foundation, steel columns with mushroom-head capitals to support the floor slabs, solid slabs in lightweight concrete to keep floor structure thicknesses contained, and a mixed glued-laminated timber and steel roof, designed to optimize the load-bearing sections.
A careful, integrated approach that combines structural requirements, sustainability, and respect for the existing architectural context.
