The Excelsior Palace Hotel in Rapallo, a prestigious 5-star luxury property on the Portofino Coast, features an extensive seafront area with a SPA, swimming pools, and beach cabins.
In November 2018, an exceptional storm surge struck the area, generating waves exceeding 17 meters in height and causing severe damage to the hotel's coastal facilities.
Reconstruction works began in January 2019 and were carried out on double shifts to ensure reopening for the summer season. The intervention included the construction of new reinforced concrete structures anchored to the rocky shoreline through a system of distributed rock anchors using 40 mm and 16 mm steel bars.
The concrete mixes were specifically designed to withstand the aggressive marine environment and salt exposure, ensuring the long-term durability of the structures.
