Parma Car Park – Urban rationalisation and architectural restoration, Alessandria
As part of the urban regeneration plan launched by the city of Alessandria in the early 2000s, the Parma Car Park was built — a structure strategically located close to the city centre, on the site formerly occupied by the judicial prisons. The project forms part of the recovery of disused areas and included the preservation of part of the existing historic building.
An architectural connection between the car park and the nearby civic library was also studied, by means of a steel-and-glass tunnel designed to enhance the complex and improve its accessibility.
The design of the metal structures used the CDM Dolmen finite element software to accurately simulate the static behaviour of the roof and the steel stairwells under various load combinations.
