Design and Construction of the Reinforced Concrete Structure
Turin (TO), 2003-2005
O&M Ingegneria

The Residenza Grenadier complex is one of the most significant residential developments within the Spina 3 urban regeneration project. It stands on an area affected by the covering of the railway underpass and the remediation of the former Fiat steelworks.

The architectural design is by architect Ubaldo Bossolono, while O&M Ingegneria handled the structural design and works supervision of the reinforced concrete and systems works.

The structure comprises 170 dwellings, including social housing units, with garages on two underground levels. From a structural standpoint, the building features pile and retaining-wall foundations, reinforced concrete columns and beams, brick-and-concrete floor slabs and steel connections between the blocks, rising up to 16 storeys above ground.

The complex sits within a context of major urban transformation, alongside landmark buildings such as the Church of the Holy Face (Santo Volto) and the seat of the Turin Curia.
