CMA CGM TOWER PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE ROOF

Structural Design of the Pedestrian Bridge Roof
Marseille (FR), 2004
O&M Ingegneria

As part of Marseille's urban and tourism redevelopment plan, the CMA CGM company built its headquarters, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects.

The project comprises a 32-storey tower (143 m), with a reinforced concrete structure characterised by inclined columns and fluid shapes. An elevated pedestrian bridge (the Annex) connects the main building to a service structure used as a car park.

O&M Ingegneria handled the design of the bridge's steel structure, including the roof and the side enclosures in steel and glass, manufactured by Italian companies.

Given the complexity of the work, an FEM model was developed using the CDM Dolmen software to simulate the structural behaviour of the Annex under various load combinations, in compliance with current regulations.
